It is easy to feel like you are falling short when it comes to your faith. I provide content that reminds you how loved you are and how valuable you are to the Father. I provide encouragement to chase your dreams and to believe God for big and bold things. But I also want you prepared and equipped for when life gets tough because life will get tough. Stormy seasons of life are inevitable. Jesus even warned us in John that trouble will find us in this life. He didn't leave it there though. That warning is actually sandwiched between promises that He has already overcome and that He is with us.
Today we are going to look at some awesome verses for surviving the storms we find ourselves in. These are my favorite kind of posts to write because I just get to pack them full of scripture. These verses are really powerful and I suggest that you write them down or save this post somewhere easy to find and when life gets challenging come back and really grab hold of these scriptures and the Truth they contain.
Meditate on these and rest in the truth that we are never alone. Here we go! All of the verses below are in English Standard Version, which is a translation familiar to most, but I also include most verses in The Passion Translation, which is a favorite Bible quotes about storms Mike and me. This translation is so poetic and helps bring the message to life.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.
In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John ESV. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world! When stormy seasons come, the one thing we all long for is connection and peace. We need to know that we are not alone, and we need to find some peace amid our trials to rest in while we wait for the circumstances to blow over.
This verse is one worth clinging to because it is a reminder that Jesus went out of His way to not only pay our sin debt and make way for us to live eternally with Him in Heaven BUT also to make sure we were prepared for the things that would come against us in this life. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. We are persecuted by others, but God has not forsaken us. We may be knocked down, but not out.
Listen, I know life can get tough really fast, but you need to keep verses like this in front of you, so you know that even when life is tough, with Christ living within you, you are Bible quotes about storms much tougher. Circumstances are going to crowd us at times. People are going to make things worse sometimes.
Life is going to ask more of us than we have to give. BUT you will not be crushed. You will not be driven to despair! With God in your corner, and He is in your corner today, my friend, you are indestructible. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
Isaiah ESV. Do not fear, for I, your Kinsman-Redeemer, will rescue you. I have called you by name, and you are mine. When you pass through the deep, stormy sea, you can count on me to be there with you. When you pass through raging rivers, You will not drown. When you walk through persecution like fiery flames, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you, Isaiah TPT. What a promise!
What a comfort in the midst of challenges to know that God calls you by name and declares you are His! And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans ESV. Romans TPT. The Father is working even when you cannot see or feel it. This is where trust is so important we have to learn to trust our Father so that in seasons like these we can rest in our confidence in Him.
Listen friend. You can grab that printable here for FREE. It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, Psalm ESV.
How we love to sing our praises over and over to you, to the Bible quotes about storms God, high and exalted over all! At each and every sunrise we will be thanking you for your kindness and your love. If you are currently in a stormy season, seriously go and read this entire Psalm. Something powerful happens in the spirit, and things shift when we can declare the goodness of God and proclaim the good things He has done for us when it seems untimely due to the challenges we are facing.
Thanksgiving maintains our freedom and our hope even when crazy is happening all around us. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians ESV. For in him was created the universe of things, both in the heavenly realm and on the earth, all that is seen and all that is unseen.
Every seat of power, realm of government, principality, and authority—it all exists through him and for his purpose! He existed before anything was made, and now everything finds completion in him. Colossians TPT. Speaking of life verses, this is one of my personal favorites.
So here is some good news, my friend. Regardless of how you feel or what the odds are looking like, He will hold you together. He will keep you. Jesus loves you.
He is not punishing you. He is not pleased by watching you suffer. When you suffer, He sustains. He has the power and will keep you. He will pull you through. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I pray this is beginning to feel a little repetitive and that in that repetition, you are beginning to see and believe that God is crazy about you, and He will never leave you in the tough times you face in this life.
The Father is faithful, and He will be faithful to help you navigate this season, and He is faithful to see you through to the other side. He is also faithful to redeem your painful and unpleasant experiences so that incomprehensible beauty can come from your healing and victory. Isaiah This is yet another theme verse in our home. We have it painted above our mantle right when you walk into our house. Be reminded by this verse who your Father is. This is a promise to keep close. I am not going anywhere.
I am with you. I love you, my child and we are in this together. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalm ESV. We may weep through the night, but at daybreak it will turn into shouts of ecstatic joy.
Psalm TPT. I want to remind you that seasons change, my friend. The one you are in now may seem like it Bible quotes about storms never come to an end but know that relief is always just over the horizon. Lastly, I want to remind you of the story of Elijah. Elijah was a great prophet of the Lord. He calls down fire from heaven in front of everyone, proving that there is only one God, convincing the people that they needed to turn from the false Bible quotes about storms and back to Jehovah.
Fire from heaven? That would blow any modern-day super-bowl performance out of the water. Fast forward to the very next chapter, and we see him fleeing from some wicked queen and hiding in the wilderness waiting for death. He falls into hopelessness and despair and even asks the Lord to let him die in the wilderness. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Winds are raging, and things are crumbling all around him, but God was not in the storm or the wind. Next and earthquake breaks out and then a fire. This is a crazy afternoon. God was not in the earthquake or the fire. After all of these crazy things passed, there was a whisper.
God was in the whisper. I tell you this story to tell you that when life gets crazy, it is effortless to focus on the circumstances. It is easy to fix our eyes, hearts, and attention on the storm, the wind, the earthquake, and the fire and miss the whisper. There is hope and help available Bible quotes about storms you always!
